The Art of Friendship – Sunday May 24
THE ART OF FRIENDSHIP – Sunday 24th May 2015
A one-day workshop at Cowdray Hall, Cowdray Park, Midhurst, West Sussex with David Lorimer and Serge Beddington-Behrens
Aristotle said ‘Friendship is a thing most necessary to life.’ We agree. Research has also shown that people who enjoy deep friendships live longer, healthier lives. Yet, because of our busy lifestyles and our tendency not to give friendship the respect it deserves, many of us fail to put sufficient effort into this area of our lives. And we pay a price!
Over the day, David and Serge, who are old and close friends, will share their insights as to why they feel friendship is so important, what to do to have more sustaining friendships and how to work with the many challenges friendship brings up for us. They will also look at different kinds of friendship and in view of the upsurge of social media, explore what friendship means in the 21st century. In contrast to many courses where you get told how to think about a certain topic, we will allow a space for meaningful dialogue.
Serge Beddington-Behrens MA (Oxon.), Ph.D. is a Transpersonal Psychotherapist, Coach and Spiritual Educator. He has taught workshops and given spiritual retreats nationally and internationally for 40 years. He has just published a book on the relationship between Spiritual Activism and having an awakened heart.
David Lorimer, MA, PGCE, FRSA is Chief Executive of Character Scotland, Programme Director of the Scientific and Medical Network and President of Wrekin Trust. He is the author and editor of over 15 books.
We believe in a gift economy and that our suggested price is £50 for the day, which if you can afford we would be grateful if you paid. However, we feel this day will be important and so we want to make it open to everyone. If you are low waged, pay what you feel you can afford. We also suggest that you bring lunch with you to share (tea and coffee are included).
To book, please send your name(s) to David Lorimer (firstname.lastname@example.org) and transfer a deposit of £25 to his Practical Wisdom account (RBS 83 26 28 a/c 00768881) to secure your place. The deposit will be refundable until May 17th. Please bring the balance in cash or a cheque on the day. Alternatively, you can pay the full amount electronically.
